How do I get a quote?

The easiest way is to call me or send me an e-mail. We can discuss your project, and I’ll work up a quote based on your specific requirements. This initial consultation is free of charge.

How do I hire your services?

It’s simple:

Step 1: You call me to discuss your project. (The initial consultation is free of charge.)

Step 2: If we decide to work together, I will e-mail you a copy of my standard agreement, which will list the details of what I expect from you, and what you can expect from me. Just so there are no misunderstandings.

Step 3: You return the signed agreement to me, along with whatever information and background materials I have requested, and your deposit.

Step 4: I go to work, complete the assignment, and send it to you on or before the agreed-upon deadline.

Can we do it over the phone, or do we need a meeting?

A meeting is usually not necessary. We can discuss the project over the phone, and then if we decide to work together, you can send me the necessary background materials by mail, fax, or e-mail. I will then return the finished copy to you either electronically or by mail, whichever is more convenient for you. I’ve found working this way to be very efficient, saving both of us time and money.

Of course, if you do want a meeting, arrangements can be made. That is something best discussed on a case-by-case basis.

What kinds of projects do you handle?

A list of the types of projects I specialize in can be found here.

If the project you have in mind isn’t on this list, but you still think I might be the right person to handle it, give me a call and we’ll discuss it.

What are your qualifications?

I am a professional copywriter with over a quarter of a century of writing experience. In addition, I continually read and network to upgrade my skills and keep abreast of the latest marketing trends. For more about me and my background and experience, see my About page.

How do you handle revisions?

After the final draft is submitted, you have a full 30 days to go over it and submit to me any revisions you want made. Up to two rounds of revisions are included in the original quote. Any work outside the scope of the original project may be negotiated at an additional charge.

What about design and production?

I specialize in copywriting only. However, if you need help finding a designer or other production professional, I’ll be happy to assist you in whatever way I can, such as making referrals.

How much do you charge?

E-mail me and I’ll be happy to send you a rate sheet, which lists the general range of fees for various types of projects. The exact fee for a particular assignment depends on the scope and specific details of that assignment. To get a firm quote, call me to discuss the details of your project. (This initial consultation is free of charge.)

Also, I prefer to charge by the project, rather than by the hour. I find it’s more convenient for the client to know up front how much the project will cost, so you can budget accordingly. However, certain things – additional work beyond the scope of the original project, meetings not included in the original quote, or other ancillary work – may be quoted at an hourly rate. But we will discuss those situations as they arise, and come to an agreement before any additional charges are added. No surprises!

Why should I hire you over another copywriter?

Hiring a copywriter is an important and personal decision. You need to choose someone you feel comfortable working with, and who can do the job you need done and do it well.

The best way to decide whether or not I’m a good fit for your team is to give me a call [link] or send me an e-mail [link] so we can discuss your project and get to know each other a bit. Once I have a clear picture of what you need, I’ll be able to tell you whether or not I think I can deliver it. If it sounds like something I can help you with, great. If I don’t think I’m the right copywriter for you, I’ll tell you so, straight up.

What I can tell you now is that if I take on your project, I will work hard to complete it to the very best of my ability. I strive to be easy to work with, and to always meet deadlines. My goal is to make you look good while making your life easier.

What about deadlines? Can you get this letter written for me by tomorrow?

The short answer is “no.” I can’t promise to turn around even a “small” project overnight. It doesn’t work that way. Quality is very important to me, and quality takes time.

Now, can I get it to you in less than a week? Maybe. It depends on the nature and scope of the project, how much research I have to do, whether or not I need to set up interviews, etc. – and of course on how far ahead my schedule is already booked up. (I won’t pass over one client’s deadline to meet another’s. Which is actually good news for you, because I will treat your project with the same respect when it is your turn.)

That said, if you’re facing a genuine emergency, I may be able to work with you. The best way to find out is to give me a call, and we’ll see. Be aware, however, that there is a 50% surcharge for rush jobs.
